The Lake
Originally dug as an irrigation pit in the mid-1980s, the lake has been transformed over the last three years through extensive restoration and development works. Fallen trees and snags have been removed, while the lakebed has been carefully reshaped to create a variety of marginal shelves, contours, and underwater features — giving anglers plenty to explore from each of the three spacious double swims.
The lake offers depths ranging from 4ft to 28ft, with a predominantly clay bottom, areas of soft silt, and the occasional hidden gravel patch for those willing to put in the effort to find them.
Today, the lake is home to over 120 carp, including fish to over 40lb, with a strong stock of quality 20lb and 30lb carp throughout. Some of the original fish remain uncaught, adding a real sense of mystery and opportunity to every session.
In April 2023, 70 additional carp were introduced, many of which have only been caught a handful of times. Growth rates have been exceptional, with some fish growing from single figures to over 30lb already — making the future of the lake incredibly exciting, with several potential new 30s and even future 40s developing.
The lake’s current known largest resident is a stunning 40lb common known as “Game Changer”, one of the original fish and a true jewel of the stock.
The water contains minimal weed growth but is rich in natural food sources, including swan mussels, helping the fish maintain their impressive condition and growth. There are no crayfish, catfish, or nuisance species present.
Zig fishing is permitted, although strictly limited to one rod per angler.
